Collage

also from the masterclass, a tonal exercise done in collage.

i had sticky, messy fun with gluestick + paper + paint.

we had to mix 3 tones of grey that were equally between white and black, then paint them onto butcher's paper. after that we worked on the life drawing, sticking whatever tone corresponded with what we see. a little tricky, considering we had only 5 tones to work with. life model was there for the most part while we tore and stuck down the tones.

not as intimidating as painting or as laborious as working on a life drawing for a long time. excellent for people who are more inclined towards linear styles of drawing (like meself.)

Some drawings

from the Dora McRae Masterclass I attended during the school hols

snuck this one in while the life model was taking a break

charcoal is messy. but i love it-
